Just out for a stroll

At first glance I thought I had American Wigeons on the road in front of me, given the white on the male's wing.
But as I drove closer I saw it was a male Gadwall and a female Northern Shoveller.  Isn't that bill huge!

Hi Adele. I'm pretty sure that's a female Northern Shoveler.

I am just catching up on some blog reading. Love your photos of the Great Horned Owl chick. Baby owls are the cutest things.

And I really love your partridge photos. I never get close enough to get a decent photo of the dark belly patch. Good work.

Thanks Kathy. I am guilty of jumping to conclusions, expecting that the two ducks together would be the same species. I checked my book and I'm very sure you are right. It certainly explains the size of her bill!

I was very fortunate to get the owl and the partridge photos. I just stumbled across both of them. It reminds me of why I need to keep my camera close-by all the time.
