Coming back from Mexico to a mostly birdless Saskatchewan, we were happy to see an American Tree Sparrow.
These Common Mergansers were at Gardiner Dam.The Great Blue Herons come early to nest at Gardiner Dam. This is a cropped distant photo. We don't get too close.A lovely little Hermit Thrush is one of the other early migrants. Like the Tree Sparrow it is just passing through on its way to its preferred breeding grounds. I appreciate that a few in our yard.
The most exciting bird in our yard this spring was a Fox Sparrow, only our third sighting ever. I saw it outside our bedroom window for a few minutes and then we didn't see it again. Makes me wonder how many birds we don't see because we aren't looking at the right moment.%20(1024x510).jpg)
